Fort Williams Park is located on the shore of Southern Maine. It is an incredible place to visit. Scattered around the park are many old World Ware II bases, most of them small, but all of the accessible in nice weather. Home to the oldest lighthouse in Maine, the Portland Head Light, it's a wonderful place to visit for an afternoon.

Ocracoke Island was where the famous Pirate Blackbeard met his end. He had roamed from the Caribbean to the Virginia Capes robbing ships but in November 1718, Blackbeard was finally captured near Ocracoke by Lt. Robert Maynard of the British Navy. Commanding a sloop sent by the Governor of Virginia, he killed the pirate in a bloody duel and captured 15 crewman.

Blackbeard's ghost is said to haunt the land near where he was killed. Islanders that are brave and foolhardy enough to venture out to the Point after dark have routinely reported encountering the ghost of Blackbeard himself, pacing along the shoreline, lost in agony, presumably looking for missing head.(from hauntedhouses.com)

Alcatraz Island offers a close-up look at the site of the first lighthouse and US fort on the West Coast, the infamous federal penitentiary long off-limits to the public, and the 18 month occupation by Indians of All Tribes which saved the tribes. Rich in history, there is also a natural side to the Rock - gardens, tide pools, bird colonies, and bay views beyond compare. (from their website)

I don't think anyone would argue with me that Alcatraz is haunted. With it's varied history, you might just run into a former prisoner who never left!
