While there are a few other restaurant locaters, this is the first one I’ve run across that is kinda fun to use. Once it determines your location you have two options: “Shake” your phone to get a random restaurant in the area, or “Lock” each wheel to your requirements. It functions like a slot machine, with Town, Type and Price as your options. You can ‘lock’ each wheel independently, keeping that option fixed. Once you have a restaurant, you can click on the button to get their rating, what they serve, their phone number and address. Clicking on More info brings you to their mobile website with reviews, and more detailed information.
Clicking on their phone number dials the restaurant, clicking on the address brings it up in Google Maps so you can get driving directions. My only wish is to be able to mark restaurants as favorites, then you could mark all of your favorite restaurants, and have it randomly pick one for you.
It seems to me that they really only have major cities in your area. It had no trouble finding the real urban areas, but I tried doing a search for Plymouth, MA, which while a famous town, is kinda small. They did not seem to have it in their database.
This could be a great tool to take along on a roadtrip. Drive to a location, pick a random restaurant and go!
